A complex system of time — and spatial structures was the starting point for New Sites, a dance piece created by the Swedish choreographer Fabian Wixe. Together with the dance company of the Theater Bielefeld, he explored how limitations affect dance and at the same time how a room can be transformed by moving bodies.
Starting his career as a circus performer but working also in theater and contemporary dance, Fabian Wixe has developed a differenciated artistic viewpoint. His research in the possibilities of movement is based on »kinesthetic listening«, the ability of dancers to perceive and intuitively react to the space they and other people are performing in. In order to create a flow of movements, he asks the dancers of TANZ Bielefeld for utmost concentration, precision, rapidity and a constant alertness of their colleagues’ actions. The audience watches the piece not only from the front but from three sites. Fabian Wixe allows them to get close to the dancers, to hear their breath, see their sweat and feel every step underneath their feet, thereby ensuring an intense and intriguing theatrical experience.
