JERUSALEM BETWEEN HEAVEN AND EARTH

«Jerusalem between heaven and earth»- is a street theatre performance
based on images of mythological Jerusalem in ancient texts. From the depth
of the sea a hidden city will emerge full of secrets. The ordinary meets the
magic in her streets, as stories unfold. The scenery is made of lace-like,
monumental cutouts inspired by the architecture of Jerusalem. The
performance evolves from scenes of a fairy tale city to modern reality were
images of violence and war are succeeded by hope and a new beginning.

• The Mystorin Theatre Group is the only Israeli theatre group that brings the beauty of ancient Hebrew texts to international audiences creating a unique theatrical poetry that is rooted in the ambiguity of Biblical verse. The original theatrical language of the Mystorin group is rich in visual images, full of different meanings and interpretations. Through video, movement, singing and visual theatre the performances of the Mystorin group reflect the narrative of ancient texts and communicate with the audience both as a story and as a total mystical experience with a strong emotional impact. As part of the creative process actors study ancient texts and artists? personal interpretations of these texts are incorporated into the performance. This unique approach, which combines methods of traditional Jewish learning with improvisation, has been developed by the Mystorin group throughout its previous artistic projects. The group performed with great success at international festivals such as INFANT theatre festival in Serbia, HIGHFEST in Armenia, Sibiu festival in Romania, Black and White festival, Finland, FITD Festival in Africa, FETA Festival in Poland and others.
