«I am Basho» is an experimental inclusive performance by Yana Tumina, Alexander Balsanov and the artists of Upsala-Circus. A poet lives in every person, and poetry is a universal language, which all people can speak without exception. Inspired by this idea, director Yana Tumina produced a play based on the Japanese tercets — haiku. This is a performance about beauty, which can be expressed in just three lines.
Children and teenagers children with disabilities and without them take part in this performance together with professional actors — each of them talks about the beauty that he or she sees around and inside himself/herself, discovering in himself/herself the future poet – student of Matsuo Basho.
In 2018, the performance became the winner of the Russian National Award «Golden Mask» for «Experiment» nomination and the winner of the Harlequin National Award for «Best Performance», «Best Director», and «Best Composer».
