GILDED FOREHEADS
fairy-tale in one act
Boris Shergin
18 April, 20.00 (on stage of Novgorod Philharmonic Hall)
The play creates a world combining folk traditions and signs of modernity and connecting past and present in the form of a fairy tale or a tale saturated with accurate comparisons and ingenious figurative expressions. Amusing and uncomplicated, as it might seem, this story is about a quick-witted man who gave a good lesson to the king and all the royal family. It results in a serious speculation about a human being, power, moral choices of each person, the right to make decisions and actions, inevitability of retaliation for any action. The play is built in a form of performance of two vagrant actors who wandering from village to village tell and show the story — funny and instructive — about «gilded» foreheads of kings.
The performance «Gilded Foreheads» was nominated for the National Theatre Award «Golden Mask 2007″. Lyubov Biryukova got the Golden Mask award as “Best Actor’s work”.
